A time to reflect upon what you have learned from 2024, what do you want to take with you into 2025 and what do you want to change. Event management is a fantastic job. Big or small events are rewarding to organise. But it’s a career that comes with a cost. Long hours, stress, burnout. Does that sound familiar? The question is what can we do to keep everything we love about the job and remove some of the burden, some of the insanity Process is our best friend We speak with a lot of event companies, and the successful ones are founded on a rigorous process. It’s what keeps the ship afloat as they get battered by waves of information when planning an event. But many of these processes are archaic, repetitive, and very time consuming. As event day approaches they can become a burden, the reason you are up at 2.00am every night leading up to the event.  Changes….changes….changes It’s a fact of event life that there will be changes. A change to the speaker line up, a change to timings, room changes, set up and pack down changes. Every change has a knock on effect. The program has to be updated, the website, the event app. Briefing documents and production schedules have to be updated and redistributed. It's exhausting just thinking about it.  Archaic, repetitive, and very time consuming The archaic, repetitive, and very time consuming bit of it is the tools we use. Spreadsheets. Stand alone spreadsheets. So if the program changes you have to manually update one, two, three or more spreadsheets holding different information.
